A man trapped in the Metropol, one of the best hotels in Moscow, for 30+ years. And he seems to have no problem with it at all most of the time, because while the outside endures the famine and political turmoil, they still have the best food and wine in the Metropol. And that’s all that a gentleman would need. Or until you have a cute little girl around who lacks all the manner of a fine lady. 

 

I would recommend reading this book because it’s funny, has lots of unexpected twists, and, like many other great novels, it lets you peek inside a slice of history — this time the Soviet Russia.
